BGI GPS rental
BGI offers weekly and monthly GPS rental. We rent only the most advanced GPS units. Our units provide 24/7 service with exact detail of the activities of the tracked vehicle. There are multiple comprehensive report options available to the client, to include routes driven, travel times, location, stop/start times, speeds driven and more.
When a client calls BGI requesting GPS rental, a validation process prior to agreeing to placement of the device. We must first determine the reason for the GPS tracking and ensure it complies with Michigan Law.
In most instances the client will be required to prove ownership or lease status.
When GPS tracking is required of a third-party vehicle for "securing evidence to be used before a court, board, officer, or investigating committee," an pre-determination process will be conducted.
CAUTION
If you are on probation/parole for an assaultive crime against the person you wish to track or if you are a "restrained party" wishing to track a vehicle occupied by an individual protected under that order, DO NOT call BGI to track the vehicle. Your request will have to be denied.
* Legal GPS tracking is often the most non-intrusive way to prove or deny your suspicions. We all know ongoing suspicion is counterproductive and is best resolved as quickly as possible.
* If you are a business that does not GPS work vehicles, you could save yourself a lot or time and money by conducting occasional GPS audits of work vehicles.

Make sure they are licensed
If an UNLICENSED Private Investigator or another person attach a GPS device to your car they are breaking the law and will be prosecuted. If a citizen hires an UNLICENSED Private Investigator to conduct an investigation and/or attach a GPS device, that fake PI is committing a felony and all parties could be prosecuted.
Investigative GPS tracking
Be careful when it comes to using a GPS unit to track a vehicle.
A GPS is commonly used to receive communication from a tracking device for various purposes. In Michigan, however, it is illegal to install a tracking device on another individual's vehicle pursuant to MCL 750.539l.
There are some exceptions as follows
A parent or guardian may use a GPS receiver to track a vehicle owned by the parent or guardian that is being used by their minor child.
A licensed private investigator may use a GPS receiver so long as the investigator is attempting to secure evidence to be used before a court, board, officer, or investigating committee.
This would mean that, under certain circumstances, you could hire a private investigator to track your spouse's vehicle through a GPS receiver.
